The Southern Hills by Choice giving circle is a network of donors who live and work in the southern hills including Custer, Hot Springs and surrounding areas. This giving circle is a program of the Black Hills Area Community Foundation to provide opportunities for education, knowledge sharing, networking, and giving.
Since its inception in 2017, this giving circle has empowered participants to learn more about their communities and the challenges faced by local organizations. Members pool funding to award grants to nonprofits, allowing for a more significant, collective contribution. They have granted more than $114,000 to-date, to nonprofit organizations that serve the southern Black Hills.
“This giving circle has been on a journey to learn more about challenges our communities face,” said Ed Starr, member of the giving circle. “Through our localized focus and collective giving model we have been able to boost funding for nonprofits that are directly serving southern hills communities.”
